  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking a Senior Manager – Studies for our Houston TX office. This person will be responsible for leading the Studies service offering growth in the Americas. Studies work is generally defined as feasibility, concept-select, pre-FEED, due diligence and consulting in all forms where professional expert advice is requested. The primary market sector focus for this position will be Upstream and the secondary sector will be New Energy.

    This is an exciting time to join Wood and the Specialist Engineering & Consulting Team as we lead the way in Energy Transition. The role requires an experienced technical leader with strong business/industry acumen and an ability to work with a high degree of autonomy. The role offers an exciting blend of customer management and technical study delivery.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead sales and proposals for studies projects with support from the Business Development function.
    • Meet or exceed annual growth objectives (in line with agreed budget)
    • Grow studies team and effectively staff multi-discipline projects. Manage direct, associated and seconded staff who support studies projects.
    • Work closely with other Wood teams (Asset Solutions; capital projects, operations & maintenance) and the wider Technical Consulting Solutions organization to win and execute work that will result in pull through opportunities.
    • Leverage Wood Global Technical Expert Network and technology solutions.
    • Fill Study Manager role for select studies and act as director / sponsor for studies led by other study managers.
    • Ensure high quality delivery on all studies.
    • Assist in development of standards, tools and processes to continuously improve Wood

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering/Science, (mechanical, civil, production, electrical, process, or other relevant discipline)
    • +15 years’ relevant experience in the upstream oil and gas sector
    • Demonstrated project / engineering management experience, managing all phases of projects, including offshore
    • Must have the knowledge, skills and experience in:
    • Process and/or facilities engineering
    • Studies execution and passion for front end development work
    • Well rounded with other discipline experience or interface management
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and proposals concurrently
    • Demonstrated success in selling, understanding client needs and managing client-facing situations
    • Capable of working in a matrix organization, using influence to get support over authority
    • Must be eligible to work in the USA
