Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently searching for an experienced Business Development Manager, to support the Asset Performance Optimization (APO) business, a division of the Development & Lifecycle Optimization (DLO) group, in Calgary, AB, Canada. The Business Development Manager will have responsibility for business sales and business development efforts in the development, pursuit and execution of new business opportunities, alongside focusing on key customer accounts and strategic customer targets to meet sales growth and business targets.

 

This is a key role in the business, an exciting leadership opportunity with responsibility for maintaining strategic, productive business relationships with new and existing customers, and identifying business opportunities. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience in an operations/sales/consulting/BD type role, and an understanding of the “Doer-Seller” model. If you have a successful track record, and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the ideal role for you to lead and coordinate front line business development (sales) activities within the service line regionally in response to market trends, customer buying behaviors and competitor tactics, leading to enhanced earnings and reputation.

 

APO is made up of the Operational Management Solutions (OMS), Integrity Management (IM) and Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) businesses. The Business Development Manager is expected to be able to communicate and advocate to our clients the value of these capabilities and also those from across the wider DLO and Wood organization, including Specialist Engineering & Consulting, Technology & Products, Environment & Infrastructure and Program & Project services to open opportunity routes across the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for growing sales within the designated key customer accounts and strategic targets within the relevant region/territory;
  • Growing our service lines and products with strategic customers and key account sales to existing customers, both external and internal
  • Work closely with the APO Senior Business Development Manager to support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for Asset Performance Optimization, work with regional sales and operational leads to ensure this is embedded into the business and lead with the generation of opportunities
  • Develop new service offerings, partnerships and customers through both intra and cross-service line collaboration
  • Achieve sales and growth goals in accordance with the regional sales plans.
  • Actively generate new business and new clients, both external and internal through proactive collaboration.
  • Engage and expand business and revenue in region, key accounts, strategic accounts and existing clients.
  • Follow all Sales Processes and Procedures, ensure they are executed and followed in the region
  • Regular reporting to Senior Management on progress against strategic objectives and future pipeline of projects
  • Generating sufficient sales backlog and prospect bank to support APO’s regional goals and objectives and ensure all opportunities and wins are recorded and managed in line with company processes
  • Maximize value and deliver against our customers' challenges at every stage of the project or asset life cycle from concept to design, execution to optimization, decommissioning and remediation.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required: Engineering preferred; Technology, Business, Marketing, or related field to be considered
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience, preferably in the O&G, or chemical markets; will consider Mining, Water/Waste Water services and Pharmaceutical as secondary market
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years and a proven track record in a consulting service sales / business development role
  • Knowledge of Asset Management best practice and methods to include Maintenance, Reliability, Asset Integrity, Operations and Training is highly desirable.
  • Professional sales experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or other Energy industry is highly desired, including an awareness of the applicable international standards relevant to the energy industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all business development activities, including planning, technical input, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Excellent people skills and strong working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management tools
  • Expert in global energy sector, ideally with additional expertise in downstream Oil & Gas markets
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written) and a capability for oral delivery in group meetings is a must
  • Must be organized and able to establish priorities, produce strategic planning documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada, without sponsorship
